Larissa Groenwold of the Netherlands won the European Junior title in 2015 in Oberwart. She is Dutch champion U17 and Junior champion in 2014 and 2015. She captured the Dutch senior title in 2017. Groenwold won silver at the European Open in Madrid in 2016. She won the senior European Cup in Saarbrucken in 2016 and won European Open in Tallinn in 2016. At the European Open in Glasgow she took the gold in 2016. She won bronze at the European Open in Minsk in 2018.

Despite the absence of all Dutch Olympic athletes at this national championship, Korrel saw the essence of this precious national title. Aliaksandr Vakhaviak spoils Estonian home victory in Tallinn

Estonian judoka Juhan Mettis was the favourite to take the gold in his category +100kg at the European Open in Tallinn but had to be satisfied with silver in the last match of the event. In the final Aliaksandr Vakhaviak of Belarus snatched the gold medal after three minutes by ippon after a mistake of Mettis. The Estonian won the African Open and booked good results at Pan American Opens in March. But just like in 2014 he finished with silver. Read more

Dutch judoka strong at second day of European Cup Saarbrucken

After four medal events Germany shines on top of the medal tally of the European Cup in Saarbrucken. The Netherlands was the winner of the second day with four gold medals, three for the men, one for Larissa Groenewold the 2015 European Junior Champion. She defeated Italian Melora Rosetta (ITA) in the final. Kubra Kara of Turkey won the gold for women +78. A small field of four women where Marine Erb (FRA) took bronze and Dutch Martine Demkes bronze. Read more

Germany wins 6 titles at European Cup season opener in Uster

At the first European Cup for seniors in Uster, Germany was the strongest country. In this age category for neo seniors, six victories were achieved by junior athletes. Germany won six categories, followed by the Netherlands with four.
