Judoka Ioana Babiuc of Romania became a successful IJF Referee, She refereed at the main IJF events and Tokyo Paralympic Games and 2012 London Olympic Games. Paris will be her second Olympic appearance apart from Paralympics. In Romania she is still a coach to bring new talents to the top. She was elected best female referee of the EJU in 2011, 2012 and 2023. Best female European referee of 2023. As an athlete she seized silver at the 1992 Romanian U21 Championships Bucharest Iasi U61kg. Best female referee in the current iJF Referee World Ranking 2024.
