Russian judoka Matvey Kanikovskiy claimed the gold medals at the Grand Slam in Tokyo and Qazaq Barysy in Astana in 2023. He captured the gold medal at the Grand Prix Portugal in 2024. He became the Junior European Champion in 2021. He won gold at the Grand Slam in Ulaanbaatar in 2022. In 2019 he took the gold at the Junior European Cup in St. Petersburg. Matvey captured a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in 2021 in Olbia. He triumphed at the Grand Prix in Dushanbe in 2023. He bagged a silver medal at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2023. He took European bronze in 2023 in Montpellier.
