Colombian judoka Cindy Mera captured a bronze medal at the Pan American Open in Lima in 2019. She was born on the first day of the Olympic Games in Sydney where Tadahiro Nomura captured the second of three historic Olympic titles. She bagged the gold medal at the Pan American Open in Lima in 2021. She claimed a bronze medal at the Pan American Oceania Championships in Lima in 2022. She claimed a bronze medal at the Panam Open in Santo Domingo in 2022.
