Jhon Ramaekers of the Netherlands became an IJF Referee and he officiated at the major IJF judo World tour events including various World Championships and Tokyo Paralympic Games. Great influences for Jhon included Mr Jan Snijders and Mr Henk Plugge, both of whom encouraged his development. Several referees from Europe have also had an impact like Franky De Moor, Manuel Cortez and Stefan Bode. As a 7 year-old Jhon started judo. He decided to start the judo teacher and referee course during a long term injury as a junior competitor. He officiated the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
