French 2009 World Champion Morgane Ribout lives in Canada

In 2009 Morgane Ribout became World Champion and she won a European bronze medal. She won medals at Grand Slams in Paris and Tokyo but it never came further and she lost quickly at the 2011 World Championships in Paris and retired in 2013 when she was just 26 years. Then she started her new life and found another love in MMA and lives in Canada. Read more

Heavyweight legends fight for gold in Hong Kong

China captured four gold medals at the Hong Kong Open, and Japan and Korea both claimed two titles - maybe two-and-a-half as Kaihan Takagi won gold in his U100kg weight class. Jacob Valois wins gold for Canada in Hong Kong

The list of top medalists in the IJF World Tour is composed of about 75% women, demonstrating the consistency with which the top female athletes perform. Urantsetseg Munkhbat sits atop the list with 33 IJF World Tour medals to her credit. Of the most experienced judoka (those who have the most titles to their name since 2009), Amiran Papinashvili and Amartuvshin Dashdavaa are the only two male representatives in a field of power women.
