Takanori Nagase is one of the challengers of World Champion Avtandili Tchrikishvili. After his gold medal win at the Masters earlier this year, he caused quite a few fighters to have some concern and the Japanese fighter is ready to take revenge this time against the Georgian. He has been undefeated for a long time. This year, he only lost one match, against Aliaksandr Stsiashenka in Dusseldorf.

Takanori Nagase will do anything to get the World title this time in Astana. Nagase is the man in shape. At the end of June, he allowed his university, Tsukuba, to win the title of being the best Japanese university team. In less than a week in Astana, he will attempt to take his first world title in the U81kg category where he will be among the favorites after his victories at the Masters in Rabat and the 2014 Grand Slam of Tokyo.

What does he think of the competitors like Pietri and Tchrikishvili and Nifontov?

“In Chelyabinsk, I unfortunately lost against the first two. There are other strong fighters but Pietri and particularly Tchrikishvili are two of the best. These two losses the same day left me many regrets. Since then, I used that disappointment to motivate me more. Today I feel really good. I am going to Astana to win and nothing else. I want to be world champion and Olympic champion in a year.

Nagase has been training in Spain, Brazil and at the Tenri University. After that, he had one last internship Nabeoka in Miyazaki. “I’ve used for a "special" set up to fight Tchrikishvili and Pietri.”
