As the European Championships progress, all eyes are on Team Georgia, poised to make a significant impact on day two and three of the competition. Leading the charge is none other than Lasha Bekauri, the current Olympic Champion, heading the -90kg category. Joining him is teammate Giorgi Jabniashvili, ranked #57 in the world, adding to the anticipation of thrilling matchups and potential upsets.

The competition promises to be intense, particularly for the men's side, with Team Georgia aiming to improve on their silver medal haul from the previous year's championships. In the -90kg category, Murad Fatiyev from Azerbaijan, fresh off a gold medal win at the Baku Grand Slam, presents a formidable challenge. Additionally, Ivaylo Ivanov from Bulgaria, a two-time silver medalist, brings his experience and determination to the mat.

Defending champion Nemanja Majdov from Serbia is set to deliver another stellar performance, facing stiff competition from contenders such as Theodoros Tselidis from Greece and Tristani Mosakhlishvili from Spain. Mikhail Igolnikov (AIN), a former title holder, adds further depth to the category, setting the stage for thrilling encounters.

In the -100kg category, Georgia's Ilia Sulamanidze, the world number one, looks to redeem himself after narrowly missing out on the title in 2024. His teammate Arman Adamian, the current World Champion, adds to the Georgian dominance in the weight class. However, formidable opponents such as Michael Korrel from the Netherlands and Aleksandr Kukolj from Serbia stand in their way.

The heavyweight division sees Guram Tushishvili from Georgia aiming for gold after a stellar performance in the recent Tbilisi Grand Slam. While heavyweights like Lukas Krpalek from the Czech Republic and Teddy Riner from France are absent, Tushishvili remains focused on securing victory.

In the +100kg category, reigning World Champion Inal Tasoev (AIN) leads the pack, supported by teammate Tamerlan Bashaev, known for his victory over Riner in the Tokyo Olympic Games. With strong contenders like Jelle Snippe from the Netherlands and Marius Fizel from Slovakia, the competition promises thrilling matchups and unexpected twists.

As the championship unfolds, Team Georgia remains a force to be reckoned with.
