25 year old judoka Mélanie Lemée dies during work duties

Frech judo is very sad to learn of the death of Mélanie Lemée on July 4 at the age of 25 following an accident in the performance of her duties as a gendarme.

Lemee was a boarder of the Caen hope pole from 2011 to 2014 then of the Judo Institute in 2014 (junior). An accomplished sportswoman and promising judoka who finished 3rd in the French Junior Championships in 2011, 7th in the French Junior Championships in 2012 and 3rd in the French Junior Championships in 2014.

The young woman was a member of the Ferté-Macé judo club then licensed to the AJ 61 club in the Orne (Normandy) committee. She been crowned French Military Champion in her category (+78 kg) on ​​four occasions and notably represented France at the Military Judo Worlds in 2016 in Uster, Switzerland, winning the Bronze Medal.

She was a member of the French military team since 2016, she was assigned that same year to the proximity brigade of Aiguillon (Lot-et-Garonne).

Fabrice Guilley, Head of the French military judo team, testifies: "She was a very nice girl, attentive to her training partners and teachers, very happy to live. She had successfully resumed judo after a cruciate ligament rupture. She was always voluntary and dynamic in training. She had the joy of life, she liked to tease, always in a good mood. She was successful both sporting and professional. "
