The International Judo Federation IJF voiced its worries about the presentation of the Judo venue at the Olympic Games during the summit of SportAccord this week in Gold Coast in Australia. The Eastern coast city hosts the worlds Sport Federations this week.

Several bodies, including the IJF, voiced worries about the budget allocated to venue presentation during the meeting.

“We have events in Tokyo every year. The venue looks much better than what we are being proposed now,” said Larisa Kiss, official from the International Judo Federation Presidential Office in Budapest who attended many SportAccord conventions.

“This would be a pity, to have a yearly Grand Slam in Tokyo looking better than the Olympics,” she said.

Hidemasa Nakamura, games delivery officer of the committee, said he would discuss the issue with the financial backers of the games, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the International Olympic Committee. “We understand it’s not just decoration but a very important part of the games,” Nakamura said.

Last year Gold Coast hosted the Commonwealth Games and now hosts the SportAccord Convention, an organisation of which Marius Vizer was president some years ago.
