Elisavet Teltsidou of Greece won her first IJF World Judo Tour final with a major upset over former world number one Maria Portela (BRA) at the Grand Prix of Antalya. Marrakech Grand Prix bronze medallist Teltsidou, who was buoyed from her seventh-place in Tbilisi a week ago, delivered gold for Greece with a sensational hip throw for ippon and her country’s second medal on day two in Turkey.

In the first semi-final Portela bested five-time Grand Slam medallist Elvismar Rodriguez (VEN) by ippon while in the second semi-final world number 79 Sun Xiaoqian (CHN) fell to Teltsidou by the maximum score.

The first bronze medal was awarded to Düsseldorf Grand Slam silver medallist Miriam Butkereit (GER) who threw SUN for a waza-ari score and forced the Chinese judoka to submit from the pressure of a tate-shiho-gatame hold.

The second bronze medal was won by Tokai University judoka Rodriguez with a fast ippon seoi-nage as world number 30 Alena Prokopenko (RUS) had no time to try and turn out of the throw and lost by ippon.
