Sabrina Filzmoser operated after serious shoulder injury

Sabrina Filzmoser had a lot of injuries in her long career and there’s a new one. The Austrian top athlete got injured last week and it turned out to be a serious shoulder injury. In her the semi-final against Timna Nelson Levy (ISR) at the Grand Prix in Tashkent got hurt. The 37-year-old Filzmoser underestimated the injury and went on to the mat again in the fight for third place, which she lost.

Filzmoser who got defeated Sevara Nishanbayeva (Kaz) after a self-sacrificing duel, had to be content with fifth place. Back home she was operated on Thursday. "She now has to immobilize her arm for three months," explains coach Klaus-Peter Stollberg after a visit to the hospital bed. Despite all this, she could smile again. "She is already looking forward to a local tournament in her hometown Wels, where she will hand out signatures to the kids" Stollberg points out that they will now have to write these with her left hand.
