Super fight Egor Mgdsyan vs Hifumi Abe for the junior world title

Gold medals today in Fort Lauderdale for Chang-Rim An, Amandine Buchard, Egor Mgdsyan and Momo Tamaoki. In fact other medals than expected. The second day of the World Championships in Fort Lauderdale went well for the European athletes. French Amandine Buchard and Russian Egor Mgdsyan highlighted the day in the USA.
Buchard who usually fights in the category U48kg today experienced the U52kg category where she was more than successful. In final match after three penalties on her back against Larise Florian, she made amazing comeback with two scored wazari’s against Romanian athlete. In first round of her category she maybe had the biggest challenge as she was better than Italian Odette Giuffrida who finished her contest in early stage of competition.
For second European World title in men’s competition all credits goes to Egor Mgdsyan of Russia who won the category U66kg. Hifumi Abe of Japan fought in final against Russian, who actually took the lead in the beginning of the fight with wazari, but at the end Russian makes nice turnover with two scored wazari’s.
Seven medals were won today by the European athletes in total.
Japan is still leading on medal tally with four gold medals, France is second, while Russia took the third position at the World Junior Championships.

Russia became the big winner of the first day of the European Cup in Celje, Slovenia. At the annual European Cup the Russian light and middleweights took five of the seven gold medals. Croatia and France both took one title. Read more
Russia captured 38 out of the 62 medals and 12 of the available 14 medals at the fourth European Cup this season, in Orenburg. Just 18 countries were gathered in Orenburg and 222 participants, so obviously the Russians had a big stake in the medal table. Russia dominated the European Cup for Seniors in Dubrovnik. At this inaugural edition the Russians won 9 out of 14 titles, a great domination. The host Croatia was happy to take three gold medals. Barbara Matic is back U70kg. She won the tournament in the final against German lea Pueschel. On Saturday Andrea Bekic was able to win the gold U52kg, one day for her birthday and Andreja Dakovic won the category U63kg. Read more
At the European Cup for Juniors reigning Junior World Champion U55kg, Vincent Manquest of France is fighting this year one category higher and lost his first contest against Jose Vicente Souza of Brazil. Sibilla Faccolli of Brazil, who won Bronze last year in Ljubljana also lost her first fight. Read more
Canadian Christa Deguchi successfully defended her Paris title with a win over teammate and World Judo Masters bronze medallist Jessica Klimkait in the U57kg final. The duo are locked in a battle for Canada’s one potential spot at the Olympics next year with both ranked well inside the world’s top 10 on the IJF ranking list. Read more
