Last sprint for best 8 in IJF World Ranking after continental judo championships

Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan is back at the number one position in the IJF World Ranking after his European title U73kg. It’s the only change after the continental championships of the highest seeds. PanAm Champion Arthur Margelidon put himself in the top 12, ninth at the clean Olympic ranking, where the first 8 will be seeded.

Kim Won-Jin (KOR) is still leading U60kg, Takato is second, Asian champion Smetov third, Orkhan Safarov the first non Asian fighter. An Baul is still leading U66kg, European Champion Vazha Margvelashvili can be found at 11, Panam Champion Chibana at 18. Avtandili Tchrikishvili is the undisputed number one, now followed by Antoine Valois-Fortier who captured his first PanAm title this weekend. European champion Khasan Khalmurzaev is ranked 4^th as best Russian. Tiago Camilo who won the PanAm title U90kg is now 17^th, Gwak is leading the bunch followed by European champion Liparteliani. Elmar Gasimov of Azerbaijan is the second leader of his country. Gasimov is followed by Frey and World Champion Haga. Heavyweight Hisayoshi Harasawa is the second best behind Teddy Riner.

Despite her won battle this weekend Sarah Menezes is ranked third, Paula Pareto is second and Munkhbat is leading the World Ranking U48kg. Andreea Chitu is followed U52kg by Majlinda Kelmendi, PanAm Champion Erika Miranda is third. Sumiya Dorjsuren of Mongolia is leading U57kg for Caprioriu and Kim Jan-Di. PanAm Champion Marti Malloy is fourth in this category.

Tina Trstenjak is the most dominant leader of all categories, the Slovenian has almost a gap of 1000 points on Agbegnenou who didn’t even compete in Kazan. Brazil’s new PanAm Champion Mariana Silva can be found at 11. Kim Polling is still leading U70kg followed by European legend Gevrise Emane and PanAm Champion Yuri Alvear. Kayla Harrison won the PanAm Title and is the leader U78kg, a big gap of 800 points with Audrey Tcheumeo, so Harrison will likely be ranked first in Rio. Mayra Aguiar, again her final opponent this weekend is fourth behind Guusje Steenhuis who is not selected for Rio. Yu Song is the most dominant +78kg, PanAm champion and reigining Olympic champion Ortiz follows at 2.

All points of the 2015 Continentals Championships were decreased by 50% and to 0% the points of 2014. This is the ranking to be used for the Grand Slam of Baku.
