Japanese lightweight Haruna Asami became World Champion 2010 in Tokyo and 2011 in Paris and world silver in 2013 (Rio) and 2015 in Astana. Asami won the Universiade in Belgrade (Student World Championships) in 2009. Asian Champion in 2015 in Kuwait. She won 2 Grand Slams in Paris, 2 in Tokyo and Rio. Haruna Asami (JPN) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for seniors U48kg in 2011 and 2012. Haruna is married to Junji Sakamoto who was Asami’s team mate at Yamanashi - Gakuin University.
