Japanese judo talent Haruka Funakubo became Junior World Champion in Zagreb in 2017. She was the youngest World Junior Champion in 2015 in Abu Dhabi, aged just 17. The young judoka also won the World team title with Japan. She won the European Open in Sofia in 2017. In 2018 she took gold at the European Open in Rome. Funakubo won bronze at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2018.
