Dutch lightweight Jeroen Mooren is 2005 European U23 Champion and European medallist in 2012. He is a doctor and won several international medals and Five Dutch national titles. Coached by Gerrie Theunissen. Won the World Cups in Budapest, Tunis, Madrid and Glasgow. Mooren won 5 national titles. Miklós Ungvári (HUN) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for seniors U66kg in 2009. Jeroen Mooren (NED) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for seniors U60kg in 2009.

Record participation for Dutch Olympic judo team

The Dutch team will send a record of eleven athletes to the Olympic Games. In 2012 the Dutch sent 10 athletes to London. Henk Grol is the only athlete with medals in his pocket. The double European champion in this Olympic cycle won bronze in 2008 and 2012. Marhinde Verkerk was previously nominated instead of Guusje Steenhuis. Verkerk finished fifth in 2012. Read more

Dutch Judo Team for Rio announced

The Dutch Judo Association announced the eleven judoka nominated for the Olympic Games. Despite the ongoing qualification period, the board will nominate eleven athletes at the National Olympic Committee. Obviously all athletes need to fit the international criteria at 30 May to secure their position. Read more

Azerbaijan and Japan take double gold in Qingdao

Japan and Azerbaijan have had an outstanding start of the 2015 Grand Prix in Qingdao. Both nations took two victories, Azerbaijan in the men’s division and Japan won two gold medals in the women. Mongolia’s Number one Sumiya Dorjsuren took the gold for women U57kg. Read more

Azeri Ilgar Mushkiyev comes back with gold in Qingdao

What a surprise victory in Qingdao for Ilgar Mushkiyev of Azerbaijan. He hadn’t won a Grand Prix since 2012 and where countryman Orkhan Safarov (AZE) was the favourite U60, it was Mushkiyev to defeat the top seed in Qingdao. Ilgar Mushkiyev, only ranked number 27 on the world ranking list, entered the final against the world number 26, Jeroen Mooren, the doctor from the Netherlands. Read more

Ilgar Mushkiyev of Azerbaijan is the favourite for the title in Qingdao U60kg against Jeroen Mooren (NED). Mushkiyev defeated Mooren five times. He won World bronze in 2011 in Paris. He fought the World Junior Championships final in 2009. He won three World Cups since 2011, as last the Grand Prix in Baku, more than 10 World Cup medals. He won European bronze in 2014. Read more
