Japanese heavyweight judoka Yusei Ogawa won the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2017. He won bronze at the 2015 World Junior Championships in Abu Dhabi. He also won the World Junior Team title with Japan in Abu Dhabi. He won silver at the Grand Slam in Tyumen in 2016 and gold at the Grand Prix in Qingdao.

Japanese heavyweight Ogawa Yusei was the unexpected winner of the last final of the Tokyo Grand Slam 2017 as he defeated U100kg Olympic champion Lukas Krpalek (CZE) in a bout for the ages.
