As so many times the Juniors of Russia proved to be the top nation. At the Junior European Cup in Berlin the Russian team took three gold medals, one more than host nation Germany, that was a bit unlucky with five lost finals. Also Kazakhstan, Brazil and Georgia claimed three titles. Read more

Russia leads the medal table at European Open in Sofia

The Russian team has won two gold medals at the first day of the European Open in Sofia. The day started though with golf for Azerbaijan. Tofig Mammadov took gold U60kg in his final against Sakhavat Gadzhiev. Mammadov prevent the Russian from taking all gold medals. In a field of 23 man the 19-year old Azeri won his first World Cup. Bulgaria is lyric about the first ever World Champion in history, Denislav Ivanov claimed the World title for Cadets in Sarajevo. The Cadet European champion Denislav Ivanov blew away the opposition on day one to win gold for Bulgaria. In the past only Georghi Petrov was in a World Championships (seniors) final in 1985. Perhaps Ivanov can step into the footlight of the nation that delivered so many heroic judoka. Read more

Japan misses the golden boat at Cadet Worlds opening day

Japan have always won a World Cadet title at the opening day of the previous three World Cadet Championships, but not in the 2015 edition in Sarajevo. Only Japanese Riko Igarashi is still in the race for a bronze medal in the U44kg category. Read more
