Sinan Sandal captured a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2017. He won his first World Cup bronze medal at the PanAm Open in Lima in 2016. He took bronze at the Grand Prix in Tbilisi in 2016. With his club Sandal won bronze at the European Club Championships.He competed at the Worlds in 2015 in Astana. He is Turkish champion in 2012 and 2015 U66kg. He won gold at the Balkan Championships in 2012 in Trebinje. Sinan retired in 2020.

Hashiguchi Yuuki won his second Grand Prix in his career. In Zagreb he won the Grand in Croatia after he defeated Portuguese Sergiu Oleinic in the final. Hashiguuchi, a former World Champion juniors, not far from Zagreb in Ljubljana proved to be ready for senior level victories again. Read more

398 athletes from 68 nations kick-off for the Grand Prix in Samsun on Friday. Of course a big team from Turkey with 52 athletes will compete and the eyecatchers are the women fighting at Day 1 U48kg where Dilara Lokmanhekim and Ebru Sahin will fight for the top positions. Both are potential Olympic participants for Turkey, but only one can go. They are ranked closely, Lokmanheim at 13, Sahin at 14 in the latest Olympic Ranking. Margvelashvili, Dusseldorf Grand Prix bronze medallist and just 22 years, sealed his first IJF gold medal in a dream result as he defeated gritty Glasgow European Open bronze medallist Fabio Basile of Italy with a ko-soto-gake earning waza-ari with a minute left on the clock and the result was never in doubt.
