Megumi Horikawa Tsugane became World Champion in 2022 in Tashkent. Megumi won the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2012 aged 17. In 2013 she fought the World Junior Championships final. She won World Junior gold with the Japanese team in 2014. She grabbed the Universiade title in 2015. She took a silver medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2017. She won bronze at the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2017. In 2018 she had silver at the Grand Slam in Düsseldorf. She captured the victory at the Kodokan Cup Chiba in 2020 in the category U63kg. She took bronze at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2021 and in Tokyo in 2022.
