Georgian judoka Beka Gviniashvili is 2013 and 2015 World Junior Champion and is the most successful junior athlete ever also with the Georgian Junior team. In 2017 he won the Grand Prix Düsseldorf 2017. He took bronze at the European Championships in Warsaw in 2017 U90kg. He took gold at the Masters in StPetersburg in 2017. Beka won three national titles. He took silver at the Grand Slam of Ekaterinburg in 2019. He took a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Tbilisi and Budapest and gold in Zagreb.

Without doubt, Ilias Iliadis wrote a nice chapter in judo history, most part of his legacy was made in 90kg class. But since the olympic champion stepped back from the tatami, this weight category has experienced a lot of changes. Two-time World Judo Masters winner Beka Gviniashvili of Georgia won his first Grand Slam title since 2016 as he enjoyed a day to remember in Osaka. The world number nine fought back from going a waza-ari down against world number 57 Davlat Bobonov (UZB) as he rolled over the Uzbek to take the final into golden score. Gviniashvili picked up Bobonov for ippon in trademark Georgian fashion as he put an exclamation mark on his win by conquering the impressive Asian judoka to take the plaudits in the U90kg category. World number one Nikoloz Sherazadishvili of Spain captured his second Grand Prix gold medal with a nail-biting win over Osaka Grand Slam winner Mukai Shoichiro (JPN) in the U90kg final. Sherazadishvili, who previously topped a Grand Prix podium in Cancun in 2017, prepared for his upcoming title defence in Tokyo by beating one of his strongest challengers. Ivan Silva Morales completes Grand Prix treble

Cuban World silver medallist Ivan Felipe Silva Morales clinched his third Grand Prix gold medal as he bested 2018 Tbilisi Grand Prix silver medallist Giorgi Papunashvili (GEO) in the -90kg final.
