Martin Hojak of Slovenia won bronze at the World Junior Championships in 2015 and silver at the European Junior Championships 2015 in Oberwart. In 2014 he won Cadet European bronze in Athens. He collected multiple Slovenian national titles for Cadets, Juniors and U23 starting at a young age. He won bronze at the Junior European Championships in 2016 in Malaga. He won the Junior European Cups in 2017 in Lignano and Paks. He claimed a bronze medal at the European Open in Tallinn in 2019.

Excellent preparation for Junior World Championships in Paks

At the Junior European Cup in Paks some senior level athletes participated. There was an interesting battle between Aleksandra Samardzic of Bosnia Herzegovina and Austrian Michaela Polleres, where the former was victorious. The Austrian is in good shape, winning in Athens and Leibnitz this season, while Samardzic had some problems winning, but found the cure in April when she won in Sarajevo. Read more

Manuel Lombardo makes it three in Lignano

Rustam Orujov wins European judo title for Azerbaijan in Kazan

Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan captured the European title at the European Judo Championships in Kazan. Orujov is only the fourth ever European champion of his country. In 2006, the later Olympic Champion Elnur Mammadli won the first European title U73kg and later in 2011 U81kg. Lightweight Elchin Ismayilov won three titles 200-2005 and Nazim Guseinov set the tone in 1993. Read more

Russian Federation President Putin opens European Judo Championships in Kazan

Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin opened the European Judo Championships in Kazan with a speech for the 8700 fans in the stadium. With the opening ceremony the judo event was opened with a solid show. It was for the last time in 2014 at the World Championships in Chelyabinsk that president Putin visited a large judo event like this. He visited the team event then. In 2010 he visited the European Championships in Vienna where he also held a speech on the podium. Read more
