Malonga benefits with gold in sloppy final of Tcheumeo
For the third day in a row, team France put its two athletes in the final as Audrey Tcheumeo and Madeleine Malonga both qualified to fight for the gold medal U78kg at the Grand Prix in Samsun. Tcheumeo had two pretty easy first rounds as she successively defeated Park Yujin (KOR) and Marta Tort Merino (ESP) in less than thirty seconds. Read more

IJF confirms talks with North Korea about World Juniors 2017
The IJF have confirmed the talks between IJF President Marius Vizer and a bid committee from North Korea to host the 2017 Junior World Judo Championships. President Vizer recently visited Pyongyang in North Korea to discuss the bid from the Asian country with high-ranking government officials such as the Minister of Sport and the National Olympic Committee along with the national judo federation and their hugely-talented team. Natalie Powell takes Tashkent title in strong field
World judo masters silver medallist Natalie Powell of Great Britain won her second Grand Prix gold medal to solidify her place in the world’s top eight with a come-from-behind victory over Madeleine Malonga. Wales’ commonwealth games winner Powell won her 13th grand prix medal as 21-year-old French woman was beaten for the first time in Tashkent in the U78kg final. Read more

Grand Prix Tashkent hosts record of 355 athletes in Uzbekistan
On Thursday the Grand Prix of Tashkent will start in Uzbekistan, always an interesting Grand Prix to collect some points for the world ranking where the competition is tough but doable. Two World Champions are at the start in Tashkent and the field is stronger than ever. Title defender Amartuvshin Dashdavaa is second seeded and separated from Sharafuddin Lutfillaev who is the highest seed U60kg in a field of 26 judoka. Rishod Sobirov won’t defend his title of last year. The World bronze medallist is absent U66kg at Dimitry Shershan (BLR) is the first seeded. 35 athletes will fight for the gold in this tough category. Read more
