Mongolian judoka Amartuvshin Dashdavaa won various international events such as the Grand Prix in 2015 in Mongolia. He won his first World Cup in 2011 in Almaty. In 2015 he won Grand Slam bronze in Paris and gold at the Grand Prix in Ulaanbaatar and Qingdao in 2016. He won bronze at the Grand Prix in Düsseldorf in 2017 and silver at the Grand Prix in Hohhot.He captured bronze at the Grand Prix The Hague and gold in 2018. Silver at the Grand Slam in Tokyo and bronze at the Masters in 2017.

Clean sweep U60kg for Mongolia at opening day

The first gold medal for Mongolia was captured in the category U60kg, an expected title, but World champion Ganbat Boldbaatar (MGL) lost out to Tbilisi Grand Prix bronze medallist Dashdavaa Amartuvshin (MGL). Mongolia won won all four medals in the men’s lightest weight category, a clean sweep for the home nation. Read more

Baku Grand Slam bronze medallist Sharafuddin LUTFILLAEV (UZB) was the leading man in the -60kg category as he ended the surprise run of world number 43 Tobias ENGLMAIER (GER). World number 14 LUTFILLAEV threw with uchi-mata for ippon with 78 seconds remaining to follow up on his Warsaw European Open gold medal and continue his superb start to the new season. Reigning Jeju Grand Prix champion Kim Won-Jin (KOR) retained his title as he defeated All Japan University Championships winner and IJF World Judo Tour newcomer Kaawano Ryoya (JPN) in the -60kg final. 2013 world bronze medallist Kim, who is still only 22, won bronze at the Asian Games recently and was successful in Jeju in an all-Asian final. Orkhan Safarov captures second Grand Slam of the year

The first male final of today’s category opposed Amartuvshin Dashdavaa (MGL) and Orkhan Safarov (AZE). At the half of the fight, Dashdavaa was leading with only one shido given to Safarov. Then a shido was also given to Dashdavaa. Dashdavaa was again penalized just before Safarov scored a waza-ari with an action-reaction movement (tani-otoshi). Read more
