Mihael Zgank became World Championships silver medallist in 2017 in Budapest. He won bronze medals at European Junior and U23 Championships. Zgank won a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Tashkent in 2015 and silver at Grand Slam Brasilia in 2019. He won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017 and at the GP Düsseldorf. He switched to Turkey as Mikail Ozerler. Ozerler clinched the gold at the Grand Prix in Antalya in 2019. Ozerler captured European Games gold in Minsk.

Just like Saturday France was the strongest country on Sunday's African Open. France captured three additional titles, making nine, whilst Tunisia took two gold medals making three in total. Just 49 participants had to fight on Sunday. Read more

Hungarian 2014 world silver medallist Toth Krisztian thrilled the home fans as he made sure that the Hungarian anthem would be heard at the Papp László Sportaréna in Budapest. Toth, 22, warmed up for his first Olympic Games, where he will be one of the top seeds, with a powerful display which ended with a decisive win over World Judo Masters bronze medallist Mihael Zgank of Slovenia in the final. Germany strong at prelims day two at GP Budapest

German athletes qualified for three finals today at the Grand Prix in Budapest. Laura Vargas-Koch was able to reach the final after a victory against Sanne van Dijke (NED) U70kg, she will now face Rodriguez Elvismar of Venezuela who defeated Karen Nun-Ira of Japan in the semi. Clever Axel Clerget praises Iddir and snatches gold in Almaty

French Axel Clerget won U90kg gold at the Grand Prix of Almaty with a win against Chinese Asian Championships bronze medallist Cheng Xunzhao in the final. Cheng came to Almaty holding 30th position on the Olympic qualification list and the one-time IJF Grand Prix winner (Qingdao 2012) fell behind to a waza-ari from a harai-makikomi and Clerget.
