German judoka Philipp Galandi won the European Cup in Malaga and in Uster in 2016. In 2016 he also won the belgian Open in Vise. He won German titles as Cadet and Junior judoka and European Cups for Juniors in Thessaloniki and Wroclaw. He took a bronze medal at the European Open in Belgrade in 2017. He captured a bronze medal at the European Cup in Bratislava in 2018. He captured gold at the European Open in Tallinn in 2019.

Germany wins 6 titles at European Cup season opener in Uster

At the first European Cup for seniors in Uster, Germany was the strongest country. In this age category for neo seniors, six victories were achieved by junior athletes. Germany won six categories, followed by the Netherlands with four. The European Cup for Juniors in Wroclaw closed on a successful note for the Dutch team, with the first 4 national anthems ringing out for the Netherlands who collected 4 gold medals on the second day. Last year Georgia was the nation that swept the medals in the European Cup of Thessaloniki, the former Iliadis Cup, whose curtain dropped today in Alexander's Melathron of Thessaloniki.
