Russian judoka Tamerlan Bashaev became World Junior Champion in 2015 in Abu Dhabi. The heavyweight won World Junior bronze with Russia. He was already European Team Champion in 2015. Bashaev took a silver medal at the 2018 European Championships in Tel Aviv. Bashaev became European U23 Champion in 2017 held in Podgorica. He won bronze at the European Open in Rome in 2017, Grand Prix in Tunis and Cancun, and Grand Slam Ekaterinburg in 2018. He became European Club Champion in 2017 with Edelweiss
