Manuel Cortes is IJF top referee who officiated at the Olympic Games in 2008, 2012 and 2016. Cortes was named the 2013 Best Male European Referee of the Year by the EJU. He refereed at the world championships in 2005 and at every edition from 2009 to 2015. He has a seventh dan in judo. Languages spoken: Catalan, English, French, Italian, Spanish. After his referee career he became Supervisor at the IJF Referee commission.
