Dutch judoka Jim Heijman was National Cadet and Junior Champion. He won the senior European Cup in Saarbrucken in 2016 and bronze in 2017. He won the European Cup U21 in Coimbra in 2016 and the national team title with his club. In 2016 and 2017 he captured the Dutch senior title. He captured a bronze medal at the European Cup Celje Podčetrtek in 2017. He took a bronze medal at European U23 Championships in 2017 held in Podgorica. He won the European Cup in Uster in 2018.

Ivaylo Ivanov of Bulgaria reinvigorated his career with gold on Saturday as he left home hero and two-time Grand Slam winner Frank De Wit (NED) in tears. Ivanov returned to an IJF medal podium for the first time in 18 months with a come-from-behind win over world number two De Wit who was overzealous and perhaps overawed by the occasion as he fought in a Grand Prix final for the first time in front of his home fans. Dutch judoka strong at second day of European Cup Saarbrucken

After four medal events Germany shines on top of the medal tally of the European Cup in Saarbrucken. The Netherlands was the winner of the second day with four gold medals, three for the men, one for Larissa Groenewold the 2015 European Junior Champion. She defeated Italian Melora Rosetta (ITA) in the final. Kubra Kara of Turkey won the gold for women +78. A small field of four women where Marine Erb (FRA) took bronze and Dutch Martine Demkes bronze. Read more
