Iakov Khammo from the Ukraine won World Bronze in 2015 in Astana and European bronze at the 2015 European Games and bronze with the team. He was European Junior Champion 2014 and World Junior medallist. Khammo won the GP of Zagreb in 2015 and Grand Prix Dusseldorf and Grand Slam in Baku in 2016 Khammo took bronze at the World Junior Team Championships in Ljubljana in 2013 with the Ukraine. He won the Grand Prix in The Hague in 2018 and silver in Tel Aviv 2019. He took silver at the Abu Dhabi GS.

Roy Meyer makes his mark in Abu Dhabi

World bronze medallist Roy Meyer of the Netherlands held down former world bronze medallist Yakiv Khammo (UKR) for 20 seconds in added time to achieve his first Grand Slam victory. The world number six used his bulky frame to control his Ukrainian rival on the ground to follow up on his superb World Championships display with gold in Abu Dhabi. Olympic bronze medallist Or Sasson ended the historic first IJF event in Israel on a high for the hosts as the heavyweight maestro won the last final of the competition. Sasson defeated The Hague Grand Prix winner Yakiv Khammo (UKR) in golden score to win Israel’s fourth Grand Prix gold medal and to make sure his country finished out of sight at the top of the medal table.
