Yang won the Grand Prix in Qingdao in 2015. Yang won bronze at the GP in Samsun in 2016. She finished 7th at the Rio Olympic Games. She won gold at the 2019 European Open in Prague. Chinese athletes absent in Paris due to health crisis

The International Judo Federation was informed that Chinese athletes will not participate in the Paris Grand Slam on February 8 and 9. Due to the health crisis in China, the French embassy in China closed its doors and will not reopen before February 10, which makes it impossible to obtain visas for the Chinese delegation. Therefore the Chinese Judo Federation withdrew their athletes registered for the event. Read more

Olympic champion Tina Trstenjak (SLO) eased to her fifth Grand Slam gold medal at the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi after beating Brasilia Grand Slam bronze medallist Maylin Del Toro Carvajal (CUB) in the U63kg final. Masako Doi earns first Grand Prix title

Masako Doi of Japan defeated Beijing 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Ketleyn Quadros (BRA) in golden score of the Grand Prix in Budapest after a tense battle which failed to produce a score. Quadros slipped off the pace in added time and was reprimanded, for the third time, for being passive to hand the gold medal to Japan’s rising contender and Düsseldorf Grand Slam bronze medallist Doi. Martyna Trajdos wins Grand Prix in China for the second time

Martyna Trajdos claimed her first IJF Grand Prix gold medal since 2013 as she defeated Asian-Pacific Championships bronze medallist Tang Jing (CHN) in the U63kg final. The German European Games winner Trajdos was too strong for world number 25 and former Antalya Grand Prix silver medallist Tang who was thrown with an o-soto-gari and then an o-uchi-gari with 27 seconds left in a comprehensive win for the European standout. Six winning nations at Euro Open Prague
