John has three passports: British, Bulgarian and United States. He is a ‘Tri’ British, Bulgarian and United States citizen. He was 2017 USJA Male Athlete of the Year. He clinched a bronze medal at the European Cup in Bratislava in 2019.

Lubjana Piovesana claims 8th Junior Cup gold

With almost 250 athletes the Junior European Cup in the Romanian town of Arad was a useful last practice. Athletes from 33 nations were in Romania to feel the opponents and form as preparation for the Junior World Championships in Zagreb in October and European Championships in Maribor in September. British Lubjana Piovesana shines among Japanese women's gold

The Japanese Junior women gave a good show at the European Cup in Wroclaw last weekend. The Japanese won six out of eight categories. British Lulu Piovesana took a second gold medal in successive weekends in Wroclaw. The other gold was for Germany’s Jana Schmitz on Saturday. Piovesana has had a strong year so far, taking her fourth Junior European Cup gold this weekend, and the second in the space of two weeks. Piovesana had to overcome Kaho Yonezawa of Japan in the final of the U63kg category, doing so with a yuko score to take the gold medal. Read more
