Urantsetseg Munkhbat became World Champion 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. In 2017 she became World silver medallist in 2017 in Budapest. Munkhbat was 7th at the Olympic Games in London U48 and 5th in Rio in 2016. Munkhbat won the IJF World Masters in Rabat in 2015. Munkhbat won the Grand Slam in Paris. After the Games Munkhbat took bronze at the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi in 2016. She won the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2016 and took silver in Paris and Tokyo in 2017.

Olympic and world bronze medallist Kondo Ami started Japan’s gold medal rush by winning the first final on day one of the Tokyo Grand Slam 2017. Former world champion Kondo took advantage of a slip by her opponent and world number one Munkhbat Urantsetseg (MGL) as the Japanese trapped the Mongolian in osaekomi for 20 seconds in golden score to clinch the U48kg title.
