Japanese youngster Ike Erina surprisingly defeated one of Mongolia’s strongest medal hopes for Rio 2016 in the U70kg final as Almaty Grand Prix silver medallist Tsend-Ayush Naranjargal of Mongolia succumb to Asian opposition. Surprising choices in Mongolian Olympic judo team

The Mongolian team for the Olympic Games in Rio hosts some surprising choices. Mongolia had even four choices for the men U60kg including 2014 World Champion Boldbaatar Ganbat, but the technical staff have chosen for young daredevil Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir who fought the World Junior Championships final in 2014 and in 2015. Tsend-Ochir won a bronze medal at the World Cadet Championships in 2013. In 2015 he was in the final of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and showed some great judo. Read more

Marie Eve Gahie earns first Grand Prix gold in Almaty

The final of the women’s U70kg category was won by Marie Eve Gahie, although in the regular time the score between Gahie and Tsend Ayush Naranjargal was equal. Both one penalty and a yuko, but 10 seconds for the end Tsend Ayush had to give up after Gahie threw her, not resulting in a score but Tsend Ayush had to give up. Read more
