Maricet Espinosa González was double Pan American Champion. She retired in 2017 but had been in the team for over ten years. In 2013 she became Pan American Champion, as well as in 2014. She was a multiple Cuban champion and was victorious at the Pan American Open in Lima in 2016 and Panam Open in Buenos Aires. She competed at many Grand Slams and won bronze medals at Grand Slams in Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Baku. She fought the final of the Grand Prix in Havana in 2016 against former World Champion Yarden Gerbi. Her nickname was "La Mole". She passed away aged 34 in 2024.
