Russia needed to pull out all stops to win gold against an unfancied Portugal as the judo competition of the Minsk 2019 European Games concluded with the mixed team event. While Russia was the favourite and advanced easily to the final with wins over Turkey, Serbia and Belarus, Portugal came out of nowhere to send France to the repechage and beat the Netherlands in the semi-final. Russian judoka Daria Davydova struck U63kg gold to thrill an expectant Russian crowd on day two. European Championships bronze medallist Lucy Renshall (GBR), who was also aiming for a first Grand Slam title, was countered with 50 seconds left on the clock with a ura-nage for ippon in the first final on day two. Never ever the name of Daria was so successful in one year and Daria Davydova was no exception today in Tashkent. The Tyumen Grand Slam silver medallist from Russia topped an IJF World Judo Tour medal podium for the first time as she defeated Baku Grand Slam silver medallist Marijana Miskovic Hasanbegovic of Croatia to win U63kg gold. Aimi Nouchi gives Japanese women 100% score in Tyumen

Nouchi Aimi of Japan came into the competition as an unknown but leaves Tyumen with one Grand Slam gold medal after beating Lisbon European Open bronze medallist Daria Davydova of Russia.
