Ylenia Scapin is a double Olympic medallist for Italy. She won bronze at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. She won three bronze medals at World Championships. Ylenia took the European title at her last and 13th European Championships in 2008 in Lisbon. She was coached by Hall of Famer Felice Mariani. She is a coach for years herself including World Junior Champion Alice Bellandi.Scapin is multiple Italian champion from 1992-2005.

Netherlands experienced a legendary judo day 20 years ago at the Sydney Olympic Games. Mark Huizinga became the first (and last) Olympic Champion for his country after legends Anton Geesink and Wim Ruska. 20 September changed Huizinga’s life. Italian coach Ylenia Scapin won two Olympic medals in her career. Bronze in Atlanta in 1996 U72kg and bronze in Sydney in 2000 U70kg. After the Olympic Games she competed U63kg but switched back to U70kg in 2007. Scapin is still influential as a coach and helped Alice Bellandi to the Junior World title. She was coached herself by European, World and Olympic medallist Felice Mariani.
