Austrian judoka Tina Zeltner won two European Junior medals in 2009 and 2010 and World junior bronze U57kg in 2011 in Cape Town. Zeltner won the PJC World Cup San Salvador U57kg in 2012 and won 8 World Cup medals in 8 different cities. Tina is daughter of a judo coach and she won 2 Austrian titles. In 2018 she took silver at the European Open in Rome. In 2018 she took a bronze medal at the European Open in Warsaw and Minsk. She took bronze at the 2019 European Open in Prague.

Two Japanese topped the medal table of the European Open in Rome. But two Italians stole the hearts of the home crowd. The three bronze medallists Edwige Gwend, Rosalba Forciniti and Francesca Milani. Gwend was expected on the podium as number one seed, but Forciniti again surprised, perhaps even herself with bronze U52kg, a category of 24 women. Read more

Junior World Championships silver medallist Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard (CAN) was the star performer in the -57kg category in Ulaanbaatar's Grand Prix as she defeated former All Japan Judo Championships silver medallist Otomo Makiko (JPN). Rijeka Grand Prix bronze medallist Beauchemin-Pinard, 20, registered a yuko and contained Otomo with a determined effort before the Japanese judoka received a shido for stepping out of the area.
