French judoka Sylvain Goulet won the European Open in Madrid in 2016 U60kg. He opened the season with a victory at the Belgian Open in Vise. He won the European Cups in Belgrade (2013) and Bratislava (2014) and Dubrovnik in 2017. In 2014 he won bronze at the French Championships 1ère Division Villebon/Yvette. He took bronze at the European Open in Rome in 2019.

Loic Pietri motivated after gold at Euro Open in Odivelas

He is not the only one who stepped up a weight category higher, but Loic Pietri had to wait four years before he could celebrate a victory at an Olympic qualifier. At the European Open in Odivelas, close to Lisbon, Pietri won gold U90kg. Two years ago at the European Cup he had one gold in Belgrade but never at an event where Olympic qualification points are for grab. Read more

Croatia cheers for two gold in Dubrovnik where France rules the event

France was the best nation at the European Cup for seniors this weekend in Dubrovnik. The French took 50% of the titles. Host nation Croatia won two gold medals on Sunday. The category +78 between Ivana Maranic and Ivana Sutalo was an all Croatian final with Maranic as the winner. Heavyweight Ivan Covic snatched the gold for his home country against Claudio Pepoli (ITA). Read more

Polish lightweights collect three gold medals at European Open in Bratislava

After day one of the Bratislava European Cup the leading country after the first day is Poland with 3 gold. The first gold medal won Kinga Kubicka in -48 who defeated her team-mate Stankiewicz by waza-ari with a drop seoi-nage. The second gold for Poland added Pienkowska in -52 kg who scored the decisive yuko in the final with a seoi-nage. Read more
