German judoka Marc Odenthal won the World Cup in Warsaw in 2013. In 2015 Odenthal won the Grand Prix Tashkent in 2015. German champion in 2015. Qualified for Rio via the continental quota. He won five World Cup medals since 2013. He captured a bronze medal at the European Cup Celje Podčetrtek in 2017. He won bronze at the European Cup in Uster and Euro Open Madrid in 2018. He took bronze at the European Cup in Sarajevo in 2018. He claimed a silver medal at the 2018 Grand Prix in Cancun.

Cuba’s Silva Morales shows his class to capture second Grand Prix title

Germany claims the first European mixed title

The team of Germany has taken the first European Mixed title. In the final Germany was too strong for the Netherlands winning by 4-2. The city of Jekaterinburg hosted the first Europeam mixed event at senior level. At Junior and and Cadet level mixed team title were already introduced. The Mixed team events will be introduced at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Read more

Sisters act at German Championships

At the second day of the German Championships it was a real sisters act. U52kg The sisters Stoll qualified for the final, while both twins eliminated the sisters Coban in the semi finals. U63kg both Reimann sisters were in the semi finals, but had to bow for the finallists. Read more

Marc Odenthal grabs first Grand Prix title

Former Paris grand slam bronze medallist Marc Odenthal (of Germany defeated former Astana Grand Prix winner Ustopiriyon Komronshokh of Tajikistan for top spot in the -90kg category. Odenthal won a first grand prix title by way of a yuko score after both judoka were gunning for gold. Ustopiriyon, who won bronze here in 2013, was supported by the international judo federation to compete in Tashkent and showed his worth having finished fifth at the world championships in August.
