Kazakh judoka Zhansay Smagulov captured gold at the Grand Prix in Tashkent in 2017. He won the Grand Prix of Budapest in 2015, his biggest international victory. Although he won silver at the Grand Prix Astana in 2014. He took bronze at the Grand Prix in Tbilisi in 2016 and 2017. He won the European Cup in Saarbrücken in 2017. He won the Grand Prix in Tunis in 2018.
