Bronze at Grand Prix in Budapest. She is double senior champion. She won a silver medal at the Grand Prix in Hohhot in 2017. She captured bronze at the Grand Prix The Hague in 2017 and silver in Tunis in 2018. She took bronze at the Masters in St. Petersburg in 2017.

Japan takes one gold medal in Tunis via Mao Izumi

Izumi Mao signed for the only gold medal for Japan this weekend at the Grand Prix in Tunis. Karen Stevenson of the Netherlands who finished on the third step of the podium at the World Masters of Saint Petersburg at the end of the last season, faced Izumi Mao, whose best result so far was a gold medal at the European Open in Sofia in 2017. Dutch powerhouses Steenhuis en Verkerk lead the IJF World Ranking

In ten years-time, Dutch woman Guusje Steenhuis built up quite a career. The 25-year old world ranking leader U78kg won the Grand Slam of Baku this year and the Grand Prix in The Hague. In the final she defeated Marhinde Verkerk who took revenge one month later in St. Petersburg at the masters. Five-time Grand Slam winner Guusje Steenhuis of the Netherlands became a Grand Prix winner for the first time on Sunday as the former world leader defeated Abu Dhabi Grand Slam silver medallist Marhinde Verkerk (NED) in an all-Dutch final. Steenhuis was overlooked for Rio 2016 in favour of Verkerk and it’s only now that the former appears to have banished that from her mind and has regained her focus with Tokyo 2020 and the World Championships 2018 in mind.
