Hungarian judoka Szabolcs Krizsán won his first Grand Prix in 2013 in Rijeka and added a second also in Croatia in Zagreb. He fights U81kg and won a few World Cups in Minsk, Sofia and Tunis. He won his first Hungarian title in 2009. His rival in Hungaria was Laszlo Csoknyai. He took bronze at the European Open in Glasgow in 2018.

Rijeka 2013 Grand Prix winner KRIZSAN Szabolcs (HUN) defeated teammate CSOKNYAI Laszlo (HUN) in a repeat final and outcome of the Tunisia African Open. The Hungarian colleagues cancelled each other out for all five minutes and could only be separated on shido penalties. CSOKNYAI infringed on three occasions while KRIZSAN was only penalised once to send the latter onto the top of the podium in a result which will have domestic and international ramifications as both men move up the rankings. One of the best clashes of the weekend was the European title battle U81kg between by Avtandili Tchrikishvili of Georgia and his enemy Loic Pietri. It was a repetition of the World Championship final last year in Rio and Tchrikishvili took his revenge, in France. Read more


European Open in Sofia 2014 successful practise

Israel, Hungary and Germany have started off well in the European Open circuit in 2014. All three nations were able to gain two medals at the European Open in Sofia. It was held for both men and women for the first time since 2002. The Netherlands won seven medals and one gold, the Ukraine even nine medals. Eleven nations won a gold medal. Read more
