Romy Tarangul won bronze at the 2009 World Championships in Rotterdam. She won silver at the 2008 European Championships in Lisbon and bronze at 2012 Europeans in Chelyabinsk. She won the World Cups in Sofia (2008 and 2014), Miami (2011) and Apia (2011). With the German team she won many medals.

Majlinda Kelmendi strengthens her leading position in Samsun

The current World Champion, Majlinda Kelmendi (KOS), was again present in the final against Odette Giuffrida ITA). After one minute and a half, Kelmendi, totally dominating her opponent scored a first waza-ari with an almost perfect o-uchi-gari, followed by a second waza-ari with a hip movement. Seven winning nations at first day European Open in Sofia

On the first day the lightweight categories came together in action and host nation Bulgaria took a gold medal in the category U60kg. Yanislav Gerchev set the tone for the final block, cheered on by many fans and coach Georgi Georgiev, who in 2002 was the last Bugarian to win the tournament. It was a nice gift for the coach who celebrated his birthday at the day of the draw. Read more


European Open in Sofia 2014 successful practise

Israel, Hungary and Germany have started off well in the European Open circuit in 2014. All three nations were able to gain two medals at the European Open in Sofia. It was held for both men and women for the first time since 2002. The Netherlands won seven medals and one gold, the Ukraine even nine medals. Eleven nations won a gold medal. Read more
