Paula Pareto secures best ever World Rank with gold in Budapest

Argentine Paulo Pareto won the Grand Prix of Budapest, although she is by far from her best shape. She won four fights and defeated Funa Tonaki in the final by yuko. World silver and Beijing 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Pareto, 29, who was fifth at London 2012, proved too much for the 19-year-old Japanese newcomer who was caught with a ko-uchi-makikomi for a yuko score to secure gold and with it 300 world ranking points. Bloechl makes a happy return to Wroclaw

One year ago the promising young German Niklas Blöechl had to settle for fifth place at the Junior European Cup in Wroclaw. He made up for that disappointment by winning here in fine style this year.
