Franzi was European 23 Champ in 2007. She won 3 European medals in 2008, 2009 and 2014 but retired in 2016 due to a neck injury.

In the heavyweight final of the Grand Slam in Paris, European Games winner Emilie Andeol of France defeated Budapest Grand Prix bronze medallist Franziska Konitz of Germany to win +78kg gold and continue her country’s medal charge on day two. Andeol, who took silver a year ago, trapped her opponent in osaekomi for 20 seconds and ippon as the home crowd were on their feet to celebrate once again. Read more
