Polavder was 2003 European Junior champion, at senior level she won 8 European Championships medals and double European Champion in 2010 and 2013 and won 13 World Cups. Lucija Polavder (SLO) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for seniors O78kg in 2009 and 2010.

European Cup Celje hosted many former champions

Asian judoka have a reputation taking gold medals. Chinese and most over Japanese women prevail in the historic medal tables. The Paris Grand Slam didn't differ from those statistics. Europe has won the challenge against Asia. In the occasion of the ECCO Judo Team Challenge in Tyumen, the team of Europe defeated Asia by 10-4. The first successful shot was by Alesya Kuznetsova who defeated World Champion Munkhbat Urantsetseg. A good start for the European team. However it was World Champion Naohisa Takato who made the equalizer against Olympic Champion Arsen Galstyan. Nakato remained undefeated but is not ready yet to attend the Grand Slam of Paris.
