Trevor Pryce Leggett was one of the leading figures at the Budokwai in the 1930s. He was a British judo teacher, author, translator, and head of the BBC's Japanese Service for 24 years. In 1938 he was invited to the Kodokan in Tokyo, where he was employed in the British Embassy and received his fifth Dan from the Kodokan. He later became Head of the Japanese Service of the BBC. At the time of his death in 2000, he had reached the grade of ninth Dan. He passed away in 2000.
