Japanese lose most points in the World Ranking this week

Due to the reduction of the points of the Grand Prix of Düsseldorf in 2015 by 50% and 2014 to 0% some small moves occurred in the World Ranking top 10. With the new points of Prague and Warsaw only a few benefit in the top 20 of the World Ranking. The Japanese suffer the most from the brilliant performances of last year's Grand Prix in Germany which are now split. Read more

Polish judo is booming. In the Olympic year 2016 the success doesn’t stop. Where the team events set the tone, the individual medals were confirmed at European and World Championships, now the own Polish Open tournament has three Polish women with a gold medal. For the first time 1997 Polish women dominate Warsaw with three titles. Read more

Arleta Podolak wins first World Cup for Poland

For the first time since 14 years Poland welcomed a home winner of its own European Open in Warsaw. Arleta Podolak won the category U57kg. Barbara Wojcicka was the last female Polish winner in 2002. In the past Poland had a few good women in this light middleweight category. Maria Gontowicz-Szalas, Aneta Przybysz, Beáta Kucharzewska and Marzena Wegrzyn were the previous winners in the ninetees, but Podolak is the first of the century winning this weight class. Read more

Polish women eager to win first gold at European Open Warsaw

For the seventh time only the women travel to Warsaw for the Polish Open, now the European Open. The former A-tournament has a long history and the women are welcomed in Warsaw separately since 2004. Unfortunately the Polish never had the pleasure to welcome a female winner. With the current strong team, that can be changed. Read more
